I.
MEDICAL COLLEGE HOSPITAL
1.
Bio Gas Plant
Bio Gas Plant by socio economic
group at a cost of 14 lakhs. Got Electrical
supply. Installation of machineries is in
progress and it will be functional within 10 days as
informed by the Socio Economic Unit foundation,
Kottayam.
2.
CT Scan
CT
Scan Machine model TOSHIBA AESTION was purchased
from M/s. Erbis Engineering Co. Ltd at a total cost
of Rs. 1,38,00,000/- (Rupees One crore Thirty Eight
lakhs only). The unit was commissioned on
15.10.2008 and is under CAMC with the supplier firm
till 15.10.2011. The income received from
various investigations by using the unit is
collecting by the HDS. Average case per month
is 800 – 900 (810)
3.
Expansion
of Dialysis unit by procuring 5 dialysis machine and
1 water treatment plant for the cost of 38.51 and
inaugurated on the day of CT scan inauguration.
Number of cases done before the new machine was
about 240 cases per month becomes 600 per month
after the new machine installation.
4.
MRI Scan
1.5 Tesla MRI scan by HINDLABS started on
March 8, 2010. Official inauguration on
17.5.2010 by Smt. P.K. Sreemathy Teacher, Hon’ble
Minister for Health & Social Welfare. 598
cases were done till now.
5.
Cath lab : Cath
lab inaugurated. 4402 cases done till now (Angiogram
and Angioplasty)

6.
CTVS Project.
As the cathlab project came to
effect the CTVS project also could increase the
number of cases per month from 200 to 500. The
project had two phases. First phase
appointment of anesthesiologists, surgeons,
assistants, helpers etc . Second phase was for
equipping the department availing loan form bank for
an amount of 1.13 crore. Government sanctioned
the project and allotted an amount of 55 lakhs to
procure heart lung machine from government fund.
Now they are planning to double the cases by
increasing the operating table. They are doing
more cases which comes under Thalolam project.
7.
Trauma Care Centre
Government
of India have allotted an amount of Rs. 146.25 lakhs
as grant for Trauma Care centre; Rs. 90 lakhs for
purchase of equipments and Rs. 56.25 lakhs for
construction of Building. Out of Rs. 90 lakhs
earmarked for purchase of equipments was completely
spent for the purpose. Last year Government of
Kerala have allotted an amount of Rs. 3 crore to
purchase equipments needed for the functioning of
Trauma care centre. This amount also fully
utilized for the purpose. Construction of the
building completed. Final works is going on.

8.
Linear Accelerator
Linear
accelerator machine is on the process of
installation. Building construction completed
almost. Foreign and Inland Letter of Credits
for the purchase and installation of Linear
Accelerator were opened on 31.3.2009 for Rs.
6,90,54,400/- (Rupees Six crore Ninety lakhs Fifty
Four thousand Four hundred only). Shipment for
the basic unit of Linear Accelerator model LINAC was
arrived and 70% of the Turn key work for the
commissioning of the machine is over. The
installation of the equipment is expected to be
completed this year itself.
9.
Thalolam, RSBY, CSSM Projects
The Government projects like
Thalolam, RSBY, CSSM are extending the benefit to
the beneficiaries effectively. Through RSBY
quiet good amount of money came to the HDS.

Central Lab
Expansion
of the Central Lab is halfway through. Procuring
of the equipment for the labs is started.
II CONSTRUCTIONS
1.
Building
Total
estimate for C2 Block is 5 Crore 80 lakhs. For
1st Phase 305 lakhs and 2nd Phase is 228 lakhs
. That was revised to 25354425/- + the tender
excess amount 8941770/- including electrification
for Rs. 30 lakhs. 250 KVA transformer
installed for electrification. It is a 5 floor
building constructed as per the MCI guidelines for
150 admission . Housing Anatomy, Physiology,
Biochemistry and Community Medicine. It was
started on 2nd January 2004. Inaugurated on
28.4.2007 by the Hon’ble Minister P.K. Sreemathy
Teacher. The old paraclinical departments and
community medicine department shifted to the new
block during 2008 with a temporarily electric
connection from C block. Permanent connection
from KSEB obtained on 3rd Wednesday February 2010.
Now the academic block fully functional. Three
lecture halls with 180 capacity and one lecture hall
with 375 seating capacity and each department having
enough teaching spacing as per MCI guidelines.

2.
Sewage Treatment Plant
Administrative
Sanction was accorded to M/s. Hindustan Prefab Ltd,
Vide G.O. (Rt.) No. 1133/2010/H&FWD Dtd.
27.3.2010. The Principal has requested the
Chief Engineer, PWD for the follow up action.
3.
Cardiothoracic Block
Original
construction work was accorded to Construction
Corporation. Phase I was included in the
NABARD scheme. Administrative Sanction
obtained for 123.45 lakhs. Construction
Corporation was not complete the project.
Later on it is handed over to PWD and A.S. obtained
for 400 lakhs for completing the ongoing works.
Kerala State Construction Corporation completed 70%
of work. After that it is hand over to PWD.
A.S. obtained for Rs. 3 crore for completing the
above work.
4.
OBG Block
Administrative
sanction obtained for 980 lakhs. Construction
of building for OBG block was taken up in two
phases. Ist phase Ground floor and 1st
Floor completed on 2006. 2nd, 3rd and 4th
Floor arranged as Phase II. Expected to
be completed by 31.3.2010. But it is not yet
complete. It should be completed by July.
So that department should be shifted on July 3rd
week.

III.

Enhancement of P.G. seats
Total P.G. seats increased from 87 to 113
during the year and Super speciality seat to 12 from
8 last year.
