History

Started functioning in the year 1968

M.Ch. course started in 1989. Admits one trainee per year

Burns ICU started in 1993

Microvascular Surgery started in 2002

Post operative ICU started in 2005

IMC recognition of M.Ch. Plastic Surgery degree in 2007

Altogether, 11 M.Ch. trainees have passed out from this Department who are  

   serving in the country and abroad

  • Routine Plastic Surgery work like skin grafts, scar revisions, excision of lesions

  • Reconstructive Surgery for trauma and malignancies, especially head and neck malignancies

  • Microvascular Surgery

  • Aesthetic Surgery - Rhinoplasty, Breast reduction and augmentation, Abdominoplaty, Liposuction, Dermabrasion

  • Surgical correction of cleft lip, cleft palate and other congenital anomalies

  • Hand surgery

  • Burns care

V.   Continuing Medical Education (CME's)

3 CMEs per year are conducted by the Kerala association of Plastic Surgeons (KPSA) to cover the entire M.Ch. syllabus in 3 years time. CME on Lower limb reconstruction was conducted by the Department

VI.   Conferences

The forthcoming KPSA state conference will be conducted at Kottayam in May 2008
