The College Union which is constituted every year through general elections is a training ground for students in democratic processes. It acts as a forum for identifying talents among medicos and developing it.

         UNION ACTIVITIES

1.UNION INAUGURATION by JAYARAJ on Nov 19,2009

The inauguration of activities of students union 09-10 was on Nov 19,2009 by Sri.JAYARAJ(film director) in the college auditorium.The oath taking ceremony of the new office bearers was held in this function.our principal Dr.A.Meharunissa,Dr.Balakrishnan,Dr.Tigy,Dr.C.P.Vijayan,Dr.Tomichan.M.C,Dr.Miriyam,Dr.Jaimol were present in the function.

2.MEDEX STALL at manorama radiance & ettumanoor  on November 2009

It was our privilege to conduct two medex stalls  one in association with manorama arogyam at RADIANCE exhibition in ernakulam and other at ettumanoor in November 2009.Both the stalls was an excellent opportunity for the students to interact with the public and to clear their doubts about the medical field.Along with demonstration of specimens & models, there was also facility to check blood pressure & blood sugar.The most modern framinghams scoring was also offered in both stalls.Thousands of people visited the stalls and used the facilities offered.Both stalls gained immense public opinion and was great experience for the students.

3.AIDS DAY CELEBRATION-cartoon drawing,collage & poster making,interbatch quiz competition     

In relation to World Aids day we organized a cartoon drawing,collage & poster making competition to bring awareness among students and the items made by the students were put in front of  OP ticket counter for public awareness.Along with this a interbatch quiz competition was also conducted in association with ART unit of MCH.

4.FILM FESTIVALS

   Students union 09-10 has a actively working film club.It has conducted 3 film festivals so far.Film festivals are conducted in the big screen in college auditorium.

           1.FIRST SHOW (DEC 2,3)

          It was conducted on December 2 & 3, 2009 at the college auditorium.The films screened are UP(animation eng), BIG NOTHING(eng), 2012(eng), PATCH ADAMS(eng), ANGELS&DEMONS(eng), SAW(eng)....

       2.FRAMES(APRIL6-8)

          It was conducted on April 6,7&8 ,2010 at college auditorium.The films screened are HANG OVER(eng), MAGADHEERA(telungu), HURT LOCKER(eng), SHERLOCK HOLMES(eng), MIRROR(eng), FREQUENCY(eng), KERALA CAFE(mal), INGLORIOUS BASTARDS(eng), PASANGA(tamil)...

       3.TWO DAY TALKIES(JUN9,10)

         It was conducted on June 9 & 10,2010  at college auditorium.The films screened are ARYA 2(telungu), THE INNOCENT STEP(Korean), AAYIRATHIL ORUVAN(tamil),DRAG ME TO HELL(eng),VINNAITHANDI VARUVAYA(tamil),KARTHIK  CALLING KARTHIK(hindi)..

5.SPORTS QUIZ & MUSIC QUIZ

Students Union 09-10 has a active Quiz club,it has conducted 3 quiz competitions so far.         1).SPORTS QUIZ : Was held on February 19,2010 at college auditorium.Among the 5 teams participated Ramkesav & karthik of 2007 batch emerged as winners.A cash prize of Rs 1500 was given to winners.After the quiz competition movie named REMEMBER THE TITANS was screened.2).MUSIC QUIZ: Was  held on April 29,2010 at college auditorium.Among the 5 teams participated Swathy & Vishnu of 2008  batch emerged as winners.A cash prize of Rs 1000 was given to the winners. After this a movie named PAAIYYA(tamil) was screened. 3) AIDS QUIZ: On November 30,2009 at PTA hall,in relation to world  aids day.

6.ARTS CLUB INAUGUARATION by INDRAJITH

Arts club inauguration of Students Union 09-10 was held on February 4,2010 by famous  film star INDRAJITH. Our  Principal Dr.A.Meharunissa,MCH Supdt. Dr.Balakrishnan, ICH Supdt. Dr.Savida, Dr.Tigy, Dr.C.P.Vijayan, Dr. Miriyam,  MCH RMO Dr.Tomichan etc  were present for the function. After  the  official  function  there was cultural extravaganza by students including UV dance and ganamela….

7.INTERBATCH VOLLEYBALL & CRICKET TOURNAMENT

Interbatch volleyball tournament was held in the month of May 2010.ABHS 2005 batch emerged as winners in the final with 2006 batch.

Interbatch cricket tournament was held in the month of January 2010. 2006 batch emerged as winners in the final with VAALZ 2007 batch.

8.BRMS STRIKE-RAJBHAVAN MARCH

As the govt. of india decided to start a new course named Batchelor Of Rural Medicine & Surgery(BRMS),which is a threat for existing medical step up and public health,medical students all over India protested.As a sign of our protest students union 09-10 in association with Kerala Medicos Association conducted a Raj Bhavan march.About 350+ students from kmc participated along with 1500+ medicos all over Kerala.
